Patient Participation Forum Newsletter Issue #4

It’s now a year since the merger, and time has flown. After the disastrous IT and computer issues that dogged the first 4 months, 2024 has felt a lot calmer.

We have an update on the year’s statistics for the telephone call data and the reception call desk. As you can see from the automated survey, satisfaction ratings are very high for our Manchester call team, well done!

As the temperature drops and nights draw in we have a brief Newsletter edition to bring you up to speed with seasonal news and information updates for keeping safe over the winter, and a review survey on the flu clinics. We will be preparing a more comprehensive letter with our regular features a little later.

Lung News:

The Targeted Lung Screening programme is underway for our patients. We have had a number of contacts about this, but we don’t have any control over the implementation of this, and if or when you will be called or assessed as needing a CT scan, but further information is available on the link:

There have been a number of incidental things picked up on the scans so far including spine fractures and heart valve damage, so you may get further referrals for assessment after your lung CT scans if anything else is found.

RSV immunisation has started, you will be invited to have this immunisation if you are in the eligible group. We are going to send self-book links, as this seemed to be very popular in the flu clinic booking, but we will be asking for feedback on this for objective data in the survey.

Local Allied NHS healthcare services News:

Winter is obviously a busy time in general practice with the immunisation campaigns and the increase in seasonal infections, you may find visiting your pharmacy a convenient option:

Pharmacy First:

There are many minor ailments that the pharmacist can help you with.  You can pop into the pharmacy without having to make a GP appointment. This is a national scheme.

Dental news:

It has been difficult for some patients to find an NHS Dentist in Hastings. This is not unique to Hastings and NHS dentists have been in short supply nationally.

Dentistry has been a priority locally for the Integrated Care Board:
